Il Satanismo è sempre una questione di punti di vista.
Jon Nödtveidt, leader dei Dissection, a quanto sembra si è suicidato. Nessuna conferma ufficiale sul sito della band ancora. La notizia in italiano, in inglese, in svedese.
Band fondamentale per la prima ondata black-metal scandinava, i Dissection nei primi anni Novanta hanno pubblicato due dischi imprescindibili come "The Somberlain" e "Storm of Light's Bane". Poi in seguito all'incarcerazione di Jon (dieci anni in sentenza di primo grado, poi ridotta a sette) nel Novembre 1998 accusato di aver messo a disposizione il proprio fucile per l'omicidio di un algerino la band va un pò a puttane.
Jon esce nel Settembre 2004 e riprende i fili dei Dissection, pubblica un disco uscito quest'anno, suona in giro, organizza un tour negli USA ma è costretto a cancellarlo per i suoi precedenti penali.
Jon abbracciava la filosofia "satanista" del Misanthropic Luciferian Order, un movimento di pensiero che predicava il raggiungimento della Gnosis, la conoscenza, attraverso la pratica delle arti magiche. Niente a che favore con il Satanismo Cristiano, Satana è chiunque possa aiutare l'uomo a recuperare la sua centralità all'interno della società, della propria vita, dell'universo. Come dire la vita inizia e finisce con l'uomo, nessuno sotto o sopra di lui, l'Uomo padrone di sè stesso e della propria vita. Non posso che condividere questo pensiero. Sarò Satanista anche io?

In una intervista del 2003, Nödtveidt si era espresso in merito al suicidio: "Il Satanista decide sulla sua vita e sulla sua morte, e preferisce andarsene con un sorriso sulle labbra quando ha raggiunto il picco nella sua vita, quando ha sistemato tutto, e puntare a trascendere questa esistenza terrena. Ma è completamente non-Satanico suicidarsi perchè si è tristi o miserabili. Il Satanista muore forte, non di vecchiaia, depressione o malattia, e sceglie la morte prima del disonore! La morte è l'orgasmo della vita!".
Che Jon alla fine si sia redento?
Nel loro ultimo disco "Christ Illusion" uscito in questi giorni gli Slayer (MySpace su cui ascoltare il disco) includono un pezzo "Jihad" il cui testo è un'interessante punto di vista dell'11 Settembre 2001 visto con gli occhi dei terroristi. Facile capire chi è il Grande Satana.
